Oh my! Flash forward 6+ years and so much has changed I just don’t know where to start. Bean isn’t a little Bean anymore. She is 10 years old and as spunky as ever. Kelly is back home after 22 months in the USCG stationed in VA and that has been up and down. In 2013, we found out he needed brain surgery to fix an issue with his skull that was causing all his troubles. That surgery didn’t go well, and it took years for us to recover as a family. In many ways, we are still recovering. He retired in 2014 and has been at home ever since. It was very touch and go in the beginning. He had a walker and a wheelchair for when he was tired. He wasn’t allowed to drive for three years, I had to find people to stay with him when I was out of town for work. Really mind blowing things like that. Things you shouldn’t have to deal with at 40 years old. But now, he does drive and do somethings on his own. And he is thinking about working again, maybe part time or something. Not sure it will go well, but it’s worth a try.
I still teach students with Intense Special Needs. I enjoy it most days, although I do wish I could retire sooner than I most likely will. I’m hoping for just 8 more years, so I can retire when Bean graduates. But, that’s a long ways away, so who really knows.
In the meantime, I am hoping for a new project to keep me busy and motivated. Looking into a few money making opportunities. I’ll keep you posted!
